This issue brief is a part of the LINCS ESL Pro suite of resources: Meeting the Language Needs of Today’s Adult English Language Learner. The purpose of this Issue Brief is to provide a rationale for the need for increased rigor in all English language acquisition programs, whether in a literacy level class for newcomers or a contextualized career pathways program.
