Overview

Learn how to use online communication to increase students’ motivation and persistence towards their education and career aspirations. In addition to enhancing motivation, these tools can help students gain fluency in technological skills that will serve them at school and at work.

In this combination face-to-face and online workshop, you will identify a specific goal or task you want to accomplish in your classroom or advising practice, and then learn how to select a technology tool that can best help you meet your goal.

With a clear purpose and goal in mind, we’ll investigate these free, user-friendly tools and others:
• The Weebly website builder to access classroom or program activities and resources and share their work and ideas with each other while they are at the program and outside of class or work time
• Skype for advising, tutoring, or staff meetings
• Schoology for course lesson materials, discussions, and quizzes for reinforcement outside of class time

Daring novices as well as intermediate and advanced level technology users – whether instructors, advisors, administrators - are welcomed.
