Overview

Teachers will analyze the different Anchor standards to decide how they correlate and diverge from the corresponding levels in CCRSAE. They will learn strategies for teaching sentence and paragraph development. To facilitate familiarity with the new CCRSAE writing standards, teachers will brainstorm ways to show students the importance of writing in entry-level positions, create ways to scaffold assignments to help students to move from writing simple sentences to complex sentences to simple paragraphs, develop rigorous assessments for each assignment and institute flexible strategies for responding to student work.

    Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:

  • Align classroom practice to the CCRSAE for Writing
  • Create ways to scaffold assignments to help students progress from writing simple sentences to complex sentences to simple paragraphs
  • Develop assessments for each assignment
  • Identify strategies for responding to students' writing
