Overview

The online course, The Art of Hiring and Parting Ways focuses on the importance of hiring the "right" employee by establishing a process of competency-based hiring within your program. This self-paced, 5-hour course is accessed through the Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) Blackboard learning management system.

  • Set the stage for a successful hire
  • Compose a competency-based job description
  • Script a successful interview: how to ask the right questions and identify the right players
  • Welcome new members to the cast
  • Part ways humanely

    Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:

  • Explain at least three protocols to support competency-based hiring to ensure that potential employees have the critical attributes and qualities needed to effectively support your program's vision and mission
  • Develop evidence-based protocols for discharging a staff member that can be implemented program-wide
  • Reflect upon the ways in which implementation of a competency-based hiring process will enhance your current hiring practice
