This book is from the National Research Council and covers most of the math topics that apply to adults as well as children. The Standards for Mathematical Practice were adapted from the integrated strands of proficiency: conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, strategic competence, adaptive reasoning, and productive disposition (p. 116).
