Overview

This training is a five-part series to begin to develop instructional units as part of an overall ABE math curriculum.

Description

NOTE: This training is a five-session series. Teachers must commit to all five sessions.

Course dates: March 31, April 13, May 4, May 26, and June 15. Each session runs 1:00-4:00.

We will use Wiggins & McTighe's Understanding by Design to develop registrants create at least one instructional unit for their program, and to draft a framework for an overall scope and sequence for math based on the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education.

    Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:

  • Use the CCR Standards in designing units of instruction.
    Determine whether classroom materials are aligned with the CCR Standards.
    Evaluate lessons vis-à-vis the CCR Standards, and tweak them as necessary to align with the Standards.
    Build standards into existing curricular units.
    Develop an overview of the key topics to include in a scope and sequence.
