Improving ABE students' digital literacy is an important topic in the ABE field especially because of WIOA. It is easy to lose sight of the fact that digital literacy makes our day-to-day life easier, whether at school, home, work or for entertainment.

As the instructional leader, your responsibility is to ensure that effective and engaging student learning takes place in each and every classroom and digital literacy is a critical element for making that happen.

This professional development activity/course is designed for:

  • Directors who want to learn more about leading digital literacy in their program and want to incorporate technologies to improve communication, collaboration, and productivity.

By modeling the use of technology with staff you will demonstrate the leadership needed to take your program (staff and students) well into the 21st century. Your leadership will show staff that the integration of digital literacy skills is an important part of your program's culture and can be fun, efficient, and productive.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:

  • Explain at least three technology tools that support collaboration and communication at your program and which can also be used by teachers in their classroom
  • Develop a plan to implement up to three technology tools to support collaboration and communication and improve your program's productivity
