This session explores how Workplace Education (WPE) program staff can customize a curriculum template to build contextualized curricula. You will have a chance to explore an existing template and discuss how you might apply it to various industries and class levels, review examples of existing curricula using this template, and spend time applying it to your current workplace education class(es).
- WPE program staff including teachers, coordinators, and directors
- Staff working in all WPE programs (please note that some activities will be most relevant to staff working with English learners)
This professional development activity/course is designed for:
Workplace Education programs develop contextualized curriculum for each employer-partnership based on student interest, class level, education standards, and industry-focused needs. Programs may offer several classes at different levels and/or have multiple employer-partners, each with different contexts. Using a curriculum template ensures that essential skills are taught and provides a roadmap for instructors and other staff to build contextualized curricula for new contexts.
In this session, you will explore a curriculum template and identify ways to adapt it to your program. You can access resources and connect with peers through the Canvas page for this course.
Course Format & Requirements: To complete the course, you must attend the 1.5 hour session. Additional discussion in Canvas is encouraged, but not required.
Course Access & Support: Before the course opens, registrants will receive an email with a Zoom link for a synchronous session and instructions on how to access Canvas for discussion boards and course materials. If you do not receive this information, please check your Spam folder, then email Jane Brandt at jane_brandt@worlded.org.
