Volunteer coordinators play a critical role; their work in recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers helps ensure that students have both access to high-quality instruction and support in and beyond the classroom. If your work involves working with volunteers, the Volunteer Coordinators Sharing Group is an opportunity for you to connect with fellow volunteer coordinators, share resources and strategies, ask questions, and explore new ideas and practices to strengthen your volunteer program.
- Directors and program leaders with any level of experience in their roles
This professional development activity/course is designed for:
Volunteer Coordinators Sharing Group meetings are open to anyone who works with volunteers, regardless of their title. At each meeting, you can expect to hear updates from colleagues across the state and address a topic that is relevant to what is happening in your program right now. You can also expect to reflect on your practice, share tools and resources, and discuss successes, challenges, promising practices, and innovative solutions.
At our final Volunteer Coordinator Sharing Group of the year, we’ll talk about how we recognize and appreciate the volunteers who work with our programs. We will explore questions such as: how do you show appreciation for your volunteers? What forms of volunteer recognition or appreciation have had the most success in your experience? How do your volunteer recognition methods vary across your volunteer pool? What small actions do you do (or could you do) on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis to recognize volunteer contributions? What bigger actions or events do you do (or could you do) on a limited budget? Given the many tasks we are all responsible for, how high a priority do you give to volunteer recognition, and why?
Come ready to share what you know, learn from your colleagues, and build a state-wide network of support for volunteer management!
Format & Requirements: Sharing Group meetings are held live via Zoom, accompanied by a companion discussion board and resource library in Canvas. We ask that you come prepared with resources and questions about the topic, but there is no required asynchronous work. We encourage you to attend as many meetings as you can, but attendance at all meetings is not required.
Access & Support: You will receive instructions for accessing the meeting and Canvas resources from Sovanna Carnell Guyon. If you need technical assistance to access the meeting or Canvas, please contact Sovanna at sovanna_carnellguyon@worlded.org.
