SABES has created a video series called Creating Robust ELA Unit Plans Using the SABES Template. The video series features Lauren Twardy, an ABE teacher with Middlesex Community College, and her experiences using the SABES ELA Unit Plan template to revise* an ELA unit on immigration.
The four short videos highlight key sections of the template. In each video, Lauren describes changes she made to her original unit related to the highlighted sections. She also shares the SABES supports she found helpful and offers other reflections and tips.

SABES recommends that you view the following videos in numerical order to see how Lauren's conceptualization of the unit evolved over time. Earlier videos provide needed context for later videos.
- VIDEO 1: Topic, Title, and Rationale
- VIDEO 2: Unit Outcome/Culminating Assessment
- VIDEO 3: Choosing Priority ELA Standards
- VIDEO 4: Aligning Priority ELA Standards, Unit Objectives, and Assessments
