Overview

Directors must balance complex staff and student needs, local policies and protocols, and state guidance as they design, lead, and adapt programs, instructional practices, and program culture. The Directors Sharing Group is a peer-facilitated opportunity for directors to network, share resources and strategies, ask questions, and learn from and with one another.

    Audience

This professional development activity/course is designed for:

  • Directors and program leaders with any level of experience in their role
Description

Directors Sharing Group meetings are open to anyone who works as a director or program leader, regardless of their title or region. At each meeting, you can expect to hear updates from colleagues across the state and address a different topic that is relevant to what is happening in your program right now. You can also expect to reflect on your practice, share tools and resources, and discuss successes, challenges, promising practices, and innovative solutions. Please come prepared to collaborate, ask questions, and share ideas and resources.

The topic of this meeting is Creating and Maintaining a Positive School Culture.

A positive school culture is the foundation of a thriving learning community. It fosters trust, collaboration, and shared purpose among staff, students, and families. This does not happen by chance – it's built through intentional actions, shared values, and consistent leadership. In this Directors Sharing Group meeting, we will reflect on the role of leadership in building a positive school culture and explore strategies for modeling respect, celebrating successes, and ensuring that every member of our learning communities feels seen and valued. Along the way, we will share our shining successes, lessons learned, and ongoing questions.

Please come ready to share what you know, learn from your colleagues, and build our statewide network of support for directors!

Format & Requirements: Sharing Group meetings are held live via Zoom, accompanied by a companion discussion board and resource library in Canvas. We ask that you come prepared with resources and questions about the topic, but there is no required asynchronous work. We encourage you to attend as many meetings as you can, but attendance at all meetings is not required.

Access & Support: You will receive instructions for accessing the meeting and Canvas resources from Sovanna Carnell Guyon. If you need technical assistance to access the meeting or Canvas, please contact Sovanna at sovanna_carnellguyon@worlded.org.
