Join Cross-Curricular Literacy with Newsela to get equipped with the skills and resources to integrate literacy across all subject areas! You will learn how to identify and select Newsela articles that align with their upcoming instruction, effectively utilize the platform's article tools and features to bolster student comprehension and subject-area skills, and promote the demonstration of understanding through after-reading activities and disciplinary assessments.

This session will enhance your teaching practices to lead directly to improved student outcomes. By integrating literacy instruction into content areas, students can experience improved reading retention and vocabulary, enhanced content knowledge, and increased engagement with complex texts. You’ll learn how to support the development of critical thinking skills, enabling students to construct meaning from complex texts and communicate their understanding across disciplines.

Format & Requirements: This course consists of one online synchronous session of 1.5 hours, with no additional required work.
