Thanks to our Massachusetts state membership, the Program Support PD Center is pleased to partner with the New England Literacy Resource Center (NELRC) to offer this one-hour online session, designed to help program directors consider creative ways to build an educator pipeline that attracts and retains teachers who reflect the diversity of their learners.
- Both novice and experienced program directors who are interested in creative ways to build an educator pipeline that attracts and retains teachers who reflect the diversity of their students.
This professional development activity/course is designed for:
The field of adult education is facing a wave of staff retirements and the ongoing challenge of teacher retention. Many programs are also committed to building a staff that reflects the diversity of their students. Thanks to our state partnership, NELRC will be presenting a one-hour online session during which you will learn how two adult education programs are nurturing teacher pathways for their graduates, moving them from volunteers all the way up to certified teachers.
We are excited that presenters from two local Massachusetts programs will be sharing their leadership in this area. First, we will hear from Don Sands and Manny Knaggs at X-Cel Education (Boston), which primarily offers ABE and college prep. Then, Kevin O’Connor and Luby da Silva from Framingham Adult ESL Plus, which primarily offers ESOL at all levels, will share their strategies.
Please Note: Because this session is being sponsored by NELRC, you will use this registration link instead of the SABES calendar to register for this event. Once you register, the NELRC team will email you the information you need on how to join the webinar.
Moving Forward: Be sure to check the Partner Organization PD page on the SABES website for information about PD that we offer in collaboration with our adult education partners like NELRC and LINCS, such as information about these additional online sessions related to the theme of “The Evolving Role of Program Managers” that we will be partnering with NELRC to offer and promote:
- Using Data For Program Improvement (March 21)
- Communicating Adult Education’s Value/Marketing (April)
- Differentiated Supervision And Support (May)
For questions or more information, please contact Program Support PD Center Co-Director Luanne Teller at Luanne_teller@worlded.org.
