Have you heard about the Educator Growth and Effectiveness (EGE) model but aren’t quite sure what it entails? Would you like to learn more about how it can help your teachers and students? How you might adapt it for your program to strengthen teacher practice and meet ACLS’ expectations related to teacher effectiveness?
This one-hour informational session will provide you with an overview of the EGE model, some considerations and options for implementing it, and the professional development (PD) support you can receive from SABES to support your process.
This session will be facilitated by Program Support PD Center Director Luanne Teller and Senior PD Specialist Andy Nash, who has national experience working on teacher effectiveness models and leads EGE PD in Massachusetts. She will discuss what we have learned from this year’s pilot and answer any questions you may bring.
Note: Following the one-hour session, we will remain available for an extra 30 minutes to answer your questions or for further discussion if needed.

Research has shown that the single most influential school-based factor impacting student achievement is teacher quality and effectiveness. For this reason, ACLS established two Indicators of Program Quality (IPQs) that include standards requiring programs to adopt a process that supports effective teacher supervision, growth, and evaluation. IPQ 4 focuses on Curriculum and Instruction and IPQ 8 on Educational Leadership.
The EGE model is designed to improve teachers’ professional practice and help them become as effective as possible at helping students achieve their learning, career, and educational goals. Although EGE is not mandated, ACLS supports its use by programs to address this need.
- Explain to your team the purpose of the EGE, its potential to support program activities, and the SABES PD that supports programs in adopting it
- Consider your program readiness and options for implementation according to your program’s resources and needs
