This professional development activity/course is designed for:
The Summer Directors' Institute (SDI) is designed to provide you with the opportunity to network and exchange ideas and questions with other directors as you explore and imagine some aspect of your program in a new and innovative way.
All of this year's SDI sessions will connect to how leaders can use a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion to cultivate a culture of ownership in which all stakeholders have a voice and are accountable to each other for educator effectiveness and student success.
Session 1: Integrating Digital Literacy into Adult Education
Presenters Jen Vanek (World Education) and Kathy Harris (Portland State University) will review their research findings on integrating digital literacy in adult education, published in their ProLiteracy Research Brief. You will have ample time in small groups to discuss what you and colleagues are doing and to consider new ideas you can implement.
Session 2: Integrating Digital Literacy, Part II: “Where the Rubber Meets the Road” - Action Planning
This session introduces the FY22 Planning Tool. We will provide the opportunity for new and veteran directors alike to network and begin action planning based on the principles introduced in the first part of the workshop. Following an overview of relevant resources and PD from the Program Support PD Center, you will work in small breakout groups to begin using the Planning Tool based on a series of criteria to help identify and prioritize action items.
