Bringing data into your science or social studies classroom can deepen and enrich your content teaching and provides students with the opportunity to develop data skills in authentic contexts. In this webinar, you will learn some simple and engaging classroom routines for integrating data into your content classroom.

  • Adult education teachers at all levels of math ability and comfort
Description

This 90 minute workshop will present strategies for integrating data into science and social studies classes in a meaningful way. You will be asked to participate as we collect and analyze data from the group! We will also look at some strategies and resources for making graphs and data more interactive. Lastly, we will review the statistical cycle and look at how strategic questions can get students thinking about the process behind understanding and using statistics. 

Please note: About one week before the event, registrants will receive a separate email from sherry_soares@terc.edu from the SABES Math Team at TERC with instructions on how to access the Zoom session.

    Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:

  • Collect student data to activate background knowledge and increase engagement
  • Get the most out of graphs by making them interactive
  • Push students to think about the process of doing statistics
