  • ESOL teachers and directors involved in writing ESOL unit plans for their program’s curriculum
Description

In this online, multi-session workshop, we will examine the components of a thematic ESOL unit plan and walk through the Backward Design approach to instructional planning. You will develop two unit plans—one during the virtual sessions with a small group and one individually during the independent, asynchronous sessions.

The workshop is based on the Massachusetts Professional Standards for Teachers of Adult ESOL, Standard Four: Curriculum and Instructional Planning.

The series includes three facilitated virtual sessions and three asynchronous, independent modules, all accessed through Blackboard. Participation in all three webinars and the independent modules is required.

Module 1:  The course opens with about an hour of independent work (April 28, 2022)

Module 2:  2-hour virtual session A (May 5, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.)

Module 3:  1 hour of independent work (interim session)

Module 4:  2-hour virtual session B (May 19, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
