People with language-based learning disabilities (LBLD) often encounter difficulties with organizational and academic skills, including reading and writing. In this PD opportunity with the Landmark School Outreach Program, engage with key teaching strategies and materials for addressing those challenges. This will be a blended training, including a six-hour, in-person meeting and follow-up Zoom session.
While designed for students with LBLD, these strategies have also proven helpful for English learners and others with a variety of learning challenges.

This professional development activity/course is designed for:
Designed to enhance direct, explicit instruction of students with language-based learning disabilities (LBLD), this professional development course introduces a selection of specific LBLD teaching strategies and materials focused on active reading, vocabulary, and writing to help adult learners gain educational success.
Complete all phases to earn 9 PD hours:
- Explore: Attend a six-hour, in-person session that introduces specific LBLD strategies and materials for teaching reading and writing skills.
- Practice: Complete a two-hour assignment to practice some of the strategies.
- Reflect and Extend: Attend a one-hour Zoom session from 3:30pm - 4:30pm on June 7th to debrief and reflect on the approaches, and to extend your professional knowledge.
A certificate of completion is available upon request.
PLEASE NOTE:
All participants will be required to comply with the COVID protocols that will be put into place for this in-person session. Protocols may include wearing a mask for the duration of the training (with breaks). We will email you the updated protocols as we get closer to the session date.
Directions to the training location will be provided prior to the in-person meeting.
