Description

Advising Students with Foreign Degrees and Credentials welcomes staff in any role whose work includes advising students with non-US education credentials. This course is a three-hour interactive discussion and experience to practice applying the five guiding principles. This session is ideal for those who have a basic understanding of the topic based on experience or past professional development. It combines a presentation with group work, skill building exercises, and discussions with our presenters who have years of experience working with this population. 

New this year, resources shared during this course will be collected, stored, and disseminated through Canvas for reference and discussion both within and beyond the Advising Students with Foreign Degrees and Credentials meeting. 

Course Format: This meeting is held synchronously using Canvas and Zoom. No formal preparation is required, but participants are strongly encouraged to participate in Canvas discussion boards, share relevant resources and questions.

Course Requirements: To complete this course, you must attend the three-hour online meeting. 

Extending Your Learning: Participants can extend their learning by reviewing and responding to the Advising Students with Foreign Degrees and Credentials Group Discussion board in Canvas.
