This professional development activity/course is designed for:
Digital literacy means knowing how to use the available tools and navigating the pitfalls. Join us to learn hands-on strategies for using digital tools to improve reading fluency and to write collaboratively online. You will also find out how your adult learners think critically about what’s in their news feeds, protect their children from too much screen time, and use apps for health, learning, and work.
You will leave with ready-to-use materials from The Change Agent that support standards-aligned reading and writing skills (e.g., citing evidence from the text, reading from multiple sources, and using digital tools to present content). In addition, you will see how these strategies align with key elements of popular digital skills frameworks. You will be engaged by peer-written articles—helping to see yourselves as agents of your own learning—as writers and critical thinkers. Centering students’ voices and stories and taking a strengths-based approach to learning are also key components of culturally-responsive teaching and of fostering student leadership in your classroom and across your program.
