Problem-based learning is a student-centered instructional approach that engages students in collaboratively solving an open-ended problem. This instructional strategy cultivates a wide range of skills, including critical thinking, processing and analyzing information,  interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication.  It also encourages students to apply their language skills in meaningful ways, using both receptive and productive language for authentic communicative tasks.
