Trauma and Learning: Impacts and Strategies for Adult Classroom Success is an article that highlights the need for developing specific strategies targeting attention and memory to combat the effects of prior trauma in adult language learners. Many adult English learner students have been exposed to potentially traumatic events, which could have a significant impact on brain mechanisms for language learning. ​​Research is used to support the potentially mitigating effects of strategies targeting attention and memory networks with this population including: attention-building tasks, memory strategies, and mindfulness. The reference list at the end of the article is full of research citations, and could be used to support further staff development on this issue.
