Reading Instruction: Our Rights, Our Freedoms (full lesson)
Brooke Machado teaches a remote high school level Social Studies/ELA class on the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, using close reading strategies to understand the complex text of the First Amendment. She then reflects on the lesson in a follow-up interview. The lesson is loosely based on the First Amendment Rights lesson plan from TSTM (Teaching Skills That Matter). This video is part of the series Remote ELA Instructional Practices, filmed at the Boston Public Schools Adult Education Program in the summer of 2021.
