Overview

Effective recruitment for MassSTEP programs is about more than just boosting your social media presence. Join this session to learn about fresh ways to think about recruitment, including internal recruitment, programmatic structure and scheduling, building awareness at all program levels, and strategic outreach. Hear about national and state recruitment approaches and explore how you can apply them to your MassSTEP program. This session combines a presentation from a national integrated education and training (IET) technical assistance provider, peer exchange from MassSTEP programs, and group discussion.

This is the first in a series of two sessions. Participation is not required at both, but each will build on the next, so it is recommended that you sign up for the second session: Partnership: Build It So They Will Come!

    Audience

This professional development activity/course is designed for:

  • New and experienced MassSTEP coordinators and practitioners interested in improving recruitment strategies for their MassSTEP programs
  • MassHire and employer partners interested in working with adult education partners on MassSTEP recruitment
Description

The results of our FY22 MassSTEP needs assessment survey identified recruitment as the primary challenge currently facing MassSTEP programs. COVID, eligibility requirements, and scheduling all pose barriers to recruiting a cohort of MassSTEP participants. While outreach, social media presence, and community engagement are important parts of recruitment, we will share ideas and approaches that tackle recruitment from more of a big-picture perspective. Strategies and approaches include: Getting to know your current students as workers, creating recruitment channels within your own program, addressing disconnects that might contribute to low enrollment, building career awareness, and addressing eligibility and test scores for optimal program fit. This session will outline key outreach and recruitment strategies that can be used currently and for the next funding cycle.

This is the first in a series of two sessions. Participation is not required at both, but each will build on the next, so it is recommended that you sign up for the second session: Partnership: Build It So They Will Come!

Note: You will receive a separate email from ruzica_banovic@worlded.org with information and the link for joining online a few days prior to the webinar.
