Overview

Partnerships are not only an essential and mandated part of MassSTEP programming, but they are also the key to effective participant recruitment and transition to employment. Even though MassSTEP benefits all partners, it can be challenging to build the relationships needed for a successful program. Join this session to explore new ways to think about partnerships, and hear from national and state partnership models that you can apply to your own program. This session combines a presentation from a national integrated education and training (IET) technical assistance provider, sharing of state and program models, and group discussions.

This is the second in a series of two sessions. Participation is not required at both, but each will build on the next, so it is recommended that you sign up for the first session: Recruitment: Build It So They Will Come!

    Audience

This professional development activity/course is designed for:

  • New and experienced MassSTEP directors, coordinators and practitioners interested in improving partnership strategies for their MassSTEP programs
  • MassHire, occupational skills providers and employer partners
Description

The focus of this session responds to the PD needs identified from a recent survey of current MassSTEP program directors.  Building strong relationships between MassSTEP programs and their training and workforce partners is key to successful student recruiting and successful transitions after the program. But why is it often the most challenging part of MassSTEP programs? This session shares guidance and tools other programs are using to develop partnerships and leverage these partnerships for student recruitment and job placement. The presentation will review WIOA partner requirements, identify strategies to fulfill requirements, and showcase promising partnership models. Strategies include adult education representation on workforce boards, collaborating with outstationing coordinators, co-enrollment models, and marketing to workforce and employer partners. Hear from your MassSTEP peers, and prepare to engage in group discussion.

We encourage you to invite your MassHire Career Center, Workforce Board and workforce training providers to the session.

This is the second in a series of two sessions. Participation is not required at both, but each will build on the next, so it is recommended that you sign up for the first session: Recruitment: Build It So They Will Come!
