The City University of New York (CUNY) has developed remote learning packets for adult education students on different math topics. This webinar will introduce you to one of the packets, Density: Area and Population Density, in more detail and give examples of how you can use this packet to structure a unit of remote math instruction.

In this 90-minute online workshop, we will discuss strategies for using the CUNY Fast Track GRASP remote teaching packets to structure math instruction with both asynchronous and synchronous components. We will also dive more deeply into one of the packets, Density: Area and Population Density (Part 1), and look at specific activities and concepts that can be taught during synchronous instruction to improve student learning. In addition, you will have the opportunity to view video clips of two of the activities in a remote class.
The math content in this packet is appropriate for learners at the intermediate level, approximately GLE 4–8 (CCRSAE Math levels C and D). The materials are designed to give learners the opportunity to explore the math concepts involved and apply them to real-life situations, similar to the design of the CALM curriculum. Because they contain explanatory text, students should also have an intermediate to advanced level of reading.
