Description

In this online blended workshop, you will explore the four key elements essential to vocabulary instruction and learning in the ESOL classroom. These elements, identified through research by the Center for Applied Linguistics, are word consciousness; selective, targeted instruction; vocabulary-building strategies; and metalinguistic awareness. Through experiential activities, you will analyze how students learn new words in English. You will learn how to identify words for instruction and how to design and deliver effective vocabulary practice activities for both in-person and online classes, as well as how to integrate vocabulary instruction into your ESOL unit and lesson planning.
