Join us for a blended PD opportunity to asynchronously view the June 9th SABES PS PDC Introduction to Northstar session video, followed by a synchronous online meeting where we will give a brief overview of the video and answer your questions.


    This professional development activity/course is designed for:

  • Programs/administrators/instructors using, or who plan to use, the Northstar Digital Literacy resource

If you missed the June Introduction to Northstar workshop on June 9th with Theresa Sladek from Northstar, or would like to review it again, join us for this blended PD opportunity. Participants will view the Introduction to Northstar workshop video on their own before participating in a facilitated online meeting with Diana Satin where she will review the salient points of the June training and answer any questions. In the Introduction to Northstar session, Theresa introduced the essential components of the Northstar platform, including:

  • Northstar Digital Literacy Standards
  • Digital assessments
  • Classroom-focused curriculum which supports the Northstar Digital Literacy Standards and the College and Career Readiness Standards
  • Self-directed Northstar Online Learning modules
  • Northstar reporting features

You will leave with an understanding of what each feature has to offer and a plan for how to use it to advance digital literacy at your program. Once you register, you will receive a Zoom link for the online meeting from Kathleen O'Connell or Jane Brandt at least a week beforehand.

Diana is offering another blended opportunity on August 25th to view, or review, Getting Started With Northstar Digital Literacy (from June 16th), which offers specific information about initial steps to take to get started, such as creating learner accounts and running reports. 

Additional workshops with Theresa Sladek will be offered in September and October.

    Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:

  • Describe and locate Northstar Digital Literacy platform features including the standards, curriculum, self-directed online learning, and reporting features.
  • Develop a plan for using these resources for digital literacy assessment, instruction, and reporting in your program
