This session will introduce a contextualized science unit developed for an English language arts or science class at the intermediate level (GLE 4–8). The unit prioritizes using evidence-based reading practices that enable learners to develop and strengthen their English language arts skills as they learn science. In addition, students utilize digital tools to build technology skills through research and presentation preparation. Students are encouraged to make personal and cultural connections to critical health conditions as they explore different kinds of variables and fair testing procedures.
During this session, you will engage in various lesson activities. You will receive all curriculum materials at the end of the session.
Participants will receive 1.5 PD hours in LACES upon completion of this session.
