    Audience

This professional development activity/course is designed for:

  • ESOL teachers of students at any language proficiency level
Description

In this online, multisession workshop, we will examine the components of an ESOL lesson plan and walk through the Backward Design approach to instructional planning. You will develop two lesson plans—one collaboratively during the virtual sessions with a small group and one individually during the independent, asynchronous sessions. Workshop facilitators will review everyone’s lesson plans and offer constructive feedback.

The workshop is based on the Massachusetts Professional Standards for Teachers of Adult ESOL, Standard 4: Curriculum and Instructional Planning.

The series includes three facilitated virtual sessions and three asynchronous, independent modules. Participation in both webinars and the independent modules is required.

  • Module 1: Independent activities in Canvas (9/11-9/17/24)
  • Module 2: Virtual workshop on Zoom (9/18/24, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.)
  • Module 3: 1.5 hours of independent activities in Canvas (9/18-9/24/24)
