Ellen Baxt is a curriculum and professional developer for adult literacy and workforce programs based in New York City. She has worked in the City University of New York system for 15 years, as well as in libraries and community based organizations. Ellen Baxt is lead creator of the NYSED/CUNY CareerKits, literacy-based curriculum with integrated career content. The curriculum has been adopted as the official career exploration curriculum in all regions of New York State. In addition to providing training around career topics and contextualized approaches, she also trains adult literacy programs in supporting students’ social emotional needs through classroom management, communication, self advocacy and conflict evolution skills.
