Dr. Amy Trawick
Dr. Amy Trawick provides national consulting and training services in the area of adult literacy education. She has facilitated standards development in a variety of states and has worked with national projects such as STAR, Standards in Action, the Adult Education Great Cities Summit, and Equipped for the Future. She has also consulted with the international PIAAC literacy assessment as an item-writer and research-to-practice author. She is the former director and a faculty member of the Higher Education Graduate Program at Appalachian State University.
Dr. Trawick is the 2008 recipient of the National Reading Conference's J. Michael Parker Award for contributions to adult literacy research. Her published articles and curricula address the areas of adult reading instruction, standards-based adult literacy education, contextualized instruction, brain-based teaching, and developmental education.
