Responding to Hate and Bias at School responds to the idea that while there are innumerable plans and protocols in place at every educational institution, few, if any, of them are aimed at dealing with bias and acts of hate. This Learning for Justice resource is a 52 page downloadable guide for administrators focused on designing an anti-racist education program, from climate assessment before a crisis, dealing with a race-based crisis when it comes, and a plan for handling the after-effects. Many tools and worksheets are included, and the PDF is also linked to a free, three-part webinar series on how to create an action plan for dealing with racially-based incidents. While written from a K-12 perspective, nearly all tools and content can be easily adapted to adult learner settings. The packet includes program climate surveys, record and response worksheets, incident evaluation forms, and numerous additional resources for training and professional development, such as the Anti-Defamation League’s Pyramid of Hate.
