Join this session to learn about the current processes to complete accommodation requests for the most common standardized tests, including TABE and HiSET.

    Audience

    This professional development activity/course is designed for:

  • Program staff involved in informing students about assessments
  • Program staff involved in facilitating accommodation requests
  • Program staff who administer HSE tests
Description

This is a one-hour session. We will begin with a review of definitions of accommodations in law, in education, and in politics of disability. Next, we will familiarize ourselves with the allowable accommodations for each assessment based on the published materials and additional research completed by the facilitator. Finally, we will review the accommodation request procedures for each assessment.

Extending Your Learning: Andjela Kaur is a disability studies scholar whose work examines the relationship between workers with disabilities and the vocational rehabilitation systems worldwide. She is a Motivational Interviewing (MI) trainer specializing in using MI in workforce development and adult education programs. Andjela is available for program-based coaching.
