Do you know about The Change Agent, the publication by and for adult education students? Topics are always relevant to students’ lives. Teachers and students love it! In addition to the issues themselves, you will find many resources including brief teaching tips, videos, and audio versions of articles, and suggested College and Career Readiness Standards for Adults.
Fresh off the press! The topic of the February issue is "We Use Our Minds." Writings include a broad range of topics and formats, including “Structure and Purpose Helped Me Do My Time,” “AI (Artificial Intelligence): Easy Writing?,” and a poem titled “I Am.” Each article includes activities that help make them easy to use in class, including pre-reading activities, comprehension activities, and the opportunity to submit a comment for other subscribers to read on site’s blog.
Access your free subscription: Thanks to ACLS' membership in the New England Literacy Resource Center, staff at Massachusetts programs can create a free account by submitting a sign-up form.
Use The Change Agent in your classroom: Each issue of The Change Agent includes tips, guides, and resources for using the readings in your classroom. Reach out to Jane Brandt (jane_brandt@worlded.org) to access a recording of a recent workshop on using The Change Agent to teach transferable skills.
Call for Articles! The topic of the next three issues is Our Digital Future. We invite you to work with the students in your program to write and submit a piece. By doing this, you support your students in seeing themselves as writers and connecting them to an authentic readership. They write at their level so that other readers at that level can understand. Students whose articles are accepted for publication receive a $50 gift card. The deadline is May 2. Visit the site for more information and the form to submit.
