This blog post, written by Karen Gross, former Senior Policy Advisor to The U.S. Department of Education, published in the blog for The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), explores how trauma and its symptomology impacts both the body and the brain in adult learners, thus affecting capacity to learn. This is examined through the autonomic response to, and triggers of, trauma. Gross suggests implementable and beneficial strategies for supporting adult learners with trauma as they progress through the educational pipeline.
