"What Is Evidence-Based Reading Instruction and How Do You Know It When You See It?"

This 13-page brief, produced under a contract with OCTAE, reflects the experience of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Division of Adult and Career Education as it worked to bring about fundamental changes the district had identified as necessary to implement evidence-based reading instruction (EBRI):

• Changing perceptions of what constitutes adult reading instruction
• Changing how adult education programs deliver that instruction
