Description

In our digital age, reading encompasses more than just printed text—it extends to online articles, social media posts, emails, and more. This workshop explores edtech routines that boost learners' reading skills by integrating authentic online workplace, community, and academic reading materials into reading lessons. Reading critically is at the heart of digital literacy, and ESOL learners at all levels can apply a variety of reading strategies across both print and online reading tasks. This session will help ESOL teachers develop tasks that help all learners practice reading with a purpose. This includes previewing, predicting, skimming, scanning, identifying text features, and locating and evaluating the source of a text. As teachers guide learners through these strategies, learners not only improve their reading comprehension but also become savvy navigators and consumers of online information.

This is the third session in the Fusing Literacy series. Please visit the SABES Calendar (https://sabes.org/calendar) for more information and to register for these other sessions:

Session 1 focuses on listening: Nov. 15
