Overview

Directors must balance complex staff and student needs, local policies and protocols, and state guidance as they design, lead, and adapt programs, instructional practices, and program culture. The Directors Sharing Group is a peer-facilitated opportunity for directors to network, share resources and strategies, ask questions, and learn from and with one another.

    Audience

This professional development activity/course is designed for:

  • Directors and program leaders with any level of experience in their role
Description

Directors Sharing Group meetings are open to anyone who works as a director or program leader, regardless of their title or region. At each meeting, you can expect to hear updates from colleagues across the state and address a different topic that is relevant to what is happening in your program right now. You can also expect to reflect on your practice, share tools and resources, and discuss successes, challenges, promising practices, and innovative solutions. Please come prepared to collaborate, ask questions, and share ideas and resources.

The topic of this meeting is Burning Bright without Burning Out: Strategies for Workload Management for Adult Education Leaders

Adult education directors tend to put themselves last in the long and growing line of duties that come with their job: organizational mission, staff hiring, mentoring, and management, funder expectations and requirements, community partnerships, and student success. Too often, pouring from an empty cup leads to burnout that impacts program leaders as well as the programs they lead. As we settle into a new year, join us as we explore strategies to help us take care of ourselves, support each other, and establish practices that help with work/life balance. If you have strategies that work for you, please come share them with the rest of us! If you find yourself busy every day from morning to night, and working weekends, come share with us. We are all in this together!

Format & Requirements: Sharing Group meetings are held live via Zoom, accompanied by a companion discussion board and resource library in Canvas. We ask that you come prepared with resources and questions about the topic, but there is no required asynchronous work. We encourage you to attend as many meetings as you can, but attendance at all meetings is not required.

Access & Support: You will receive instructions for accessing the meeting and Canvas resources from Sovanna Carnell Guyon. If you need technical assistance to access the meeting or Canvas, please contact Sovanna at sovanna_carnellguyon@worlded.org.
