This session maps digital skills and tools to instructional routines through the lens of content, process, and product, helping ELA, ESOL, and Math instructors expand their learners' aural and oral communication skills while building digital and AI literacy. Participants consider how focused listening, data gathering surveys, and team tasks can deepen content knowledge, strengthen communication skills, and support digital literacy development across all three instructional contexts.

This professional development activity/course is designed for:
Digital fluency and AI literacy are now essential companions to language and math instruction, as adults increasingly listen to, respond to, and create content using digital tools and AI-powered platforms in the workplace, in education, and in their communities. This session offers three practical, ed-tech routines that build learners' aural and oral communication skills while strengthening their digital and AI literacy. Using the lens of context, process, and product, this interactive workshop allows participants to consider ways to use focused listening tasks to increase comprehension; explore different data gathering and chart creation tasks; and use team tasks to integrate AI and digital literacy to effectively communicate.

- Identify the intersection of speaking and listening instruction, digital literacy, and authentic workplace, community, and academic communication tasks
- Use instructional technology tools and effective teaching routines to help learners apply speaking and listening strategies to digital communication tasks, including those that may involve AI-supported technologies
- Design learning experiences which enable adult learners to create digital products demonstrating their speaking and listening skills while building digital communication practices that support workforce readiness and lifelong learning
