Transformation Agenda Grant

About the Transformation Agenda (2011-2014)

The Massachusetts Community Colleges & Workforce Development Transformation Agenda (MCCWDTA or MACCWDTA) brought Massachusetts’ fifteen community colleges, adult basic education and workforce development systems, and industry stakeholders together to transform the delivery of education and training programs. A key component was the transformation of developmental and adult basic education with contextualized curriculum. Education Development Center (EDC) worked with developmental education and adult basic education faculty, instructors, program leaders, and industry advisors from across Massachusetts to provide and share contextualized curriculum modules that could be flexibly integrated into a range of developmental, adult basic education and industry-specific programs. The contextualized ABE modules were developed to accelerate the progress of students who are building basic math and literacy skills to successfully complete a certificate or degree.

The curriculum modules target core topics in mathematics and literacy contextualized to three key MCCWDTA industries: healthcare, advanced manufacturing and information technology.
