Laura Porter is the Program Coordinator for the SABES ESOL Professional Development Center in Massachusetts, where she develops and facilitates a variety of PD offerings, curates ESOL resources on the website, and provides general support to the PD Center. She has provided teacher training on a wide range of topics, including curriculum development, lesson planning, assessment, vocabulary development, contextualized grammar instruction, and goal setting. She contributed to the development of the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards and serves as a Massachusetts teacher trainer for the national Teaching Skills That Matter project. Laura has been an ESOL instructor since the late 1990s and has taught both in-person and online ESOL classes. She currently teaches an online class for high-intermediate English learners at Holyoke Community College.
